Discraft distance driver in the SS version and durable Z Line plastic. Designed for players with less power who want all of the Surge's glide.

The Surge SS is the “Super Straight” version of the Surge — a max-distance driver designed for players who don't have enough snap to unlock the original Surge's full potential. With speed 11, glide 5, turn -2 and fade 2, and a stability rating of 1.5 in Z Line, it offers all of the Surge's glide with a straighter edge that improves control at lower speeds. The turn -2 allows a gentle early turn before a moderate, predictable fade — long, elegant S-curve flights that don't punish imperfect releases.

Perfect for beginners and intermediate players who want real distance without sacrificing control — and for advanced players it's the perfect tool for long, controlled turnovers, tailwind bombs and shots where the Vulture or the Zeus would roll over. Paige Pierce often uses it for long-range turnover shots. In Z Line the Surge SS flies a little more overstable than in ESP — the most consistent and durable version of the mold, for anyone who wants the disc to keep its characteristics for more rounds.

Z Line

Discraft's most durable plastic, formerly known as Elite-Z. Translucent look with vivid colours and highly wear-resistant. It comes out of the factory a bit firmer and less grippy than ESP, but gains grip progressively with use. Its biggest advantage over other plastics is that it keeps its original flight characteristics for much longer — ideal if you want your disc to fly the same round after round.

Discraft ESP Scorch— also an accessible understable distance driver (11/6/-2/2). The Scorch has more glide and Stability 0.5. The Surge SS Z is a bit more overstable (Stability 1.5) — more reliable in the wind with more finish at the end.

Latitude 64 Royal Clear Grace— also an accessible speed 11 distance driver (11/6/-1/2). The Grace has less turn and more glide. The Surge SS Z has more turn and is more workable — for players who want more turn in the early part of the S.

Dynamic Discs Fuzion Heist— also a workable speed 12 distance driver (12/5/-1.5/2). The Heist is a little faster and more neutral. The Surge SS Z is slower and more understable — more accessible for developing arms.
