Obsidian Discs fairway driver in H9 plastic, easy to throw and with plenty of glide. A versatile disc for every level.

The Shard is Obsidian Discs' most versatile fairway driver — the middle ground between the overstable Tremor and the understable Rift. According to the community, H9 feels similar to Kastaplast's K1 but slightly less tacky, and it's one of the best plastics for dyeing on the market.

The Shard is Obsidian Discs' versatile fairway driver — the disc the manufacturer describes as “easy to throw with excellent glide”. With speed 7, glide 5, turn -1.5 and fade 1, it offers an accessible, workable flight for every level. In the manufacturer's words: “for beginners the flight is straight and finishes with a moderate fade. For advanced players it shines on technical hyzer flips and long turnover shots, where the Shard is stable enough to keep control of the flight line”. The rim is wider than usual for a speed 7 — similar to Kastaplast's Falk or Discmania's Essence.

In H9 the Shard has an exceptional feel that the community compares to Kastaplast's K1, only slightly less tacky. It's a fairway driver you can throw at full power without it flipping completely, while for slower arms it offers long, straight, glidey lines. The community's description sums it up well: “it flies like a Gstar Teebird, or a beat-in Discmania Instinct” — neutral to neutral-understable depending on power.

H9

Obsidian Discs premium plastic, developed in collaboration with Finland's high-end plastics industry. Exceptionally durable, flexible and with great grip even in wet conditions. The community compares it to Kastaplast's K1 or a slightly softer Innova Star, but with better grip from the very first throw. It's also one of the best plastics on the market for custom dyeing.

Kastaplast K1 Grind Falk
— also an understable fairway driver with a wide rim (9/6/-2/1). The Falk is a little faster and more understable. The Shard H9 is a little slower and more neutral — easier to control for players who can't yet throw speed 9 cleanly.

Discmania Neo Essence X-out
— also a versatile understable fairway driver (8/6/-2/1). The Essence has more glide and a bit more turn. The Shard H9 is a little slower and more neutral — better suited to players who want less turn than the Essence.

Obsidian Discs Rift H9
— Obsidian's more understable sibling (11/5/-3/1). The Rift is much faster and more understable. The Shard H9 is slower and more controllable — the same manufacturer's control disc, as opposed to the Rift's extreme distance.
