Very overstable Discmania midrange in Neo plastic, an X-out with a small cosmetic flaw. Headwinds don’t bother it and it always finishes the same way.

This disc is an X-out — it has a small cosmetic flaw (imperfect stamp, uneven colour or another minor visual detail) that doesn’t affect flight or durability. It flies exactly the same as any standard Mutant.

The Mutant is the “Cybertruck of midranges” — that’s what the manufacturer calls it, and it couldn’t be a more accurate description. It was designed around one radical principle: no rounded surfaces. The result is an extremely overstable, low-glide midrange that laughs at headwinds and always behaves predictably. With speed 5, glide 3, turn 0 and fade 4, it finishes with absolute authority — no torque, no wind and no angle is going to flip it.

According to the manufacturer, “when the wind picks up, you need a disc you can trust. The Mutant laughs in the face of danger and always behaves predictably thanks to its immense overstability”. It’s just as effective on backhand as on forehand — in fact many players prefer it for overstable forehands where you need the disc to hold up to any torque. Useful for tight hyzers, extreme flex shots, low escape shots under trees and situations where other midranges simply wouldn’t hold up.

Neo

The most durable and stiffest plastic in Discmania's Evolution line, made by Latitude 64. It's a blend of Opto and Gold Line plastics — the result is a semi-translucent plastic with a creamy finish, extremely durable and with exceptional grip in any condition. It has a certain flexibility that gives it a very natural feel in the hand and adds a bit of extra snap at the end of the throw. Neo is the plastic that launched the Evolution line with the Instinct — the first disc in this plastic.

Kastaplast Nord K1
— another very overstable midrange (5/4/0/3). The Nord has a little more glide and a little less fade. The Mutant is more extremely overstable and shorter — for situations where the Nord still doesn’t fade hard enough.

Discraft Buzzz OS— the benchmark overstable midrange (5/4/0/3). The Buzzz OS has more glide and less fade. The Mutant is more extreme on both counts — less glide and more fade. For when the Buzzz OS runs out of stability.

Latitude 64 Royal Clear Fire— another new overstable midrange (5/3/0/3). The Fire has the same glide but slightly less fade. The Mutant goes a step further in overstability — the extreme utility disc versus the reliable control disc.
