Overstable midrange from Paul McBeth's signature line, in Big Z plastic. Handles power and wind without turning over.

The Malta is the 4th disc in Paul McBeth's signature line — the overstable midrange his collection was missing. According to the manufacturer, it offers a feel and flight similar to the Zone but with the distance and reliability of a beefier Buzzz. With speed 5, glide 4, turn 1 and fade 3, and a stability rating of 1.9, it's a midrange that resists torque with total authority — the turn 1 ensures the disc will never turn over under any circumstances.

Perfect for overstable approaches, control forehands, flex shots and situations where your midrange has to stand up to a headwind, no questions asked. In Big Z the Malta is a little firmer than in ESP — which can make the flight slightly more overstable in some runs. Big Z colours are more solid and the stamps larger, making this disc really stand out on the course.

Big Z

Discraft premium plastic with all the durability of standard Z but with a more opaque finish and a distinctive pearly sheen. Designed to show off big graphics in eye-catching colours. The grip is similar to Z, improving slightly with use as the plastic beats in. Very wear-resistant, it keeps its original flight characteristics for a long time.

Discraft ESP Malta McBeth— same mold. ESP has more grip from day one and can be a bit more workable. Big Z is more durable and a little firmer — for players who want a Malta that lasts longer without softening with use.

Kastaplast K3 Hard Järn— also a very overstable approach/midrange disc (4.5/3/0/3). The Järn is shorter with less glide. The Malta Big Z covers more distance before the finish — more versatile for midrange shots vs short approaches.

Westside VIP-Ice Gatekeeper Hockey
— a midrange from the Trilogy family (4/5/0/2). The Gatekeeper is much more neutral with more glide. The Malta Big Z is very overstable — for situations where the Gatekeeper would stay too straight.
