Understable Obsidian Discs midrange in H9 plastic, with plenty of glide. Ideal for tight fairways, wooded courses and shaped shots.

The Lava is Obsidian Discs' understable midrange — the perfect partner to the overstable Magma. Every disc has a unique marble pattern thanks to the H9 manufacturing process — no two discs are alike. Also available unstamped for dyeing.

The Lava is Obsidian Discs' understable midrange — the perfect partner to the overstable Magma. With speed 5, glide 5, turn -1.5 and fade 1, it offers a workable flight with plenty of glide and a very gentle finish. In the manufacturer's words: “brilliant for tight fairways and wooded courses, as well as for shaping specific lines when needed. It's a great disc both for beginners, as an easy-to-throw first disc, and for more experienced players for long-gliding anhyzers and other technical shots”.

For beginners it flies straight with ease, thanks to the glide 5 and a turn of -1.5 that forgives imperfect releases. For advanced players it's the ideal tool for holding anhyzers, midrange hyzer flips and placement shots on fairways where you need the disc to fly straight before a very gentle fade. The turn of -1.5 — another unusual decimal number — is a sign of very precise calibration. On top of that, every disc has a unique marble pattern in H9.

Obsidian Discs premium plastic, developed in collaboration with Finland's high-end plastics industry. Exceptionally durable, flexible and with great grip even in wet conditions. The community compares it to Kastaplast's K1 or a slightly softer Innova Star, but with better grip from the very first throw. It's also one of the best plastics on the market for custom dyeing.

Obsidian Discs Magma H9— the overstable sibling (5/5/0/2). The Magma doesn't turn. The Lava H9 has turn -1.5 and fade 1 — much more workable and understable. Together they cover Obsidian's entire midrange spectrum.

Westside VIP-Ice Tursas Freeze— also a versatile understable midrange (5/5/-2/1). The Tursas has a bit more turn. The Lava H9 has less turn and the same fade — slightly more neutral and more predictable than the Tursas for intermediate players.

Kastaplast K4 Svea Dealer Exclusive— also an understable midrange (5/6/-1/0). The Svea has more glide and fade 0. The Lava H9 has turn -1.5 and some fade — more turn but a more reliable finish than the near-neutral Svea.
