Midrange from James Conrad's line for MVP, in Neutron plastic. For long turnovers and backhand hyzer flips.

The Detour is the first midrange in the James Conrad Line — designed by the 2021 World Champion himself to reflect his backhand game of long, elegant turnovers. According to the manufacturer, it sits right between the Hex (more neutral) and the Uplink (more understable) in the MVP range. With speed 5, glide 5, turn -2 and fade 1, it flips up from hyzer, glides gently to the right and finishes with a controlled fade.

Thrown flat it flies completely straight for arms with moderate power; with more speed the turn kicks in for long-range turnovers and hyzer flips. According to the official description, it's “exceptionally easy to manipulate into a wide variety of shot shapes” for experienced players, and “a deliciously straight flight” for newer ones. The White Rim version debuts MVP's new standard look for its entire production from 2026.

Neutron

MVP Disc Sports' main premium plastic. It offers the same durability as Proton — MVP's toughest — but with better grip and more vivid opaque colours that are easier to find on the course. Glossy finish with a firm, pleasant feel in the hand. MVP uses its GYRO overmold technology on all its Neutron discs — an inner rim of a different density that adds more stability and flight consistency throughout the disc's life.

Discraft Buzzz SS— the benchmark understable midrange (5/5/-2/1). Almost identical flight numbers — both are the go-to understable midranges of their respective brands. Choose based on plastic and the GYRO system.

Kastaplast Kaxe Z K1— also neutral-to-understable (6/5/0/2), but with turn 0 in its printed numbers. The Detour turns more with a powerful arm — more aggressive on turnovers, longer on S-curve drives.

Innova Mako3— the Mako3 (5/5/0/0) is completely neutral with no fade. The Detour has a turn of -2 that makes a straight flight easier for slower arms, and fade 1 for a controlled finish. More versatile for shot shaping.
