Understable Obsidian Discs distance driver in H9 plastic. For long anhyzers, rollers and tailwind shots.

Obsidian Discs is a small Finnish brand founded in 2014, known for the exceptional quality of its H9 plastic and its niche molds. The Rift is one of their most popular discs — an understable flat top with loads of character and a plastic that the dyeing community rates very highly.

The Rift is Obsidian Discs' flagship understable distance driver — a speed 11 flat top with a low profile and generous turn. In the manufacturer's words, “it's a high-glide disc with an understable flight, ideal for long anhyzers, rollers and tailwind shots. Suitable both for players with a slower arm who want lots of glide and a slightly wider rim, and for advanced players who use it straight up as a roller”. With speed 11, glide 5, turn -3 and fade 1, it turns aggressively early on and finishes with a very gentle fade — the disc that glides and glides before landing softly.

The flat top and low rim profile give it a different feel in the hand from most distance drivers on the market — more comfortable for many players on forehand, with a very clean release on backhand. For beginners and intermediate players it's an S-curve distance machine — thrown on hyzer it flips up to flat and glides further than anyone expects. For advanced players it's the perfect tool for extreme turnovers, long-range anhyzers and rollers that need to turn over quickly.

H9

Obsidian Discs premium plastic, developed in collaboration with Finland's high-end plastics industry. Exceptionally durable, flexible and with great grip even in wet conditions. The community compares it to Kastaplast's K1 or a slightly softer Innova Star, but with better grip from the very first throw. It's also one of the best plastics on the market for custom dyeing.

Discraft ESP Thrasher
— also a very understable speed 12 distance driver (12/5/-3/2). The Thrasher has more fade and is a little faster. The Rift H9 is a little slower with less fade — easier to control for arms that can't throw speed 12 cleanly.

Kastaplast K1 Impa
— also a very understable distance driver (11/6/-4/1). The Impa has more turn and more glide. The Rift H9 has less turn and the same fade — slightly more predictable and less extreme for players looking for controlled understability.

Discraft ESP Nuke SS— also an understable speed 13 distance driver (13/5/-3/3). The Nuke SS is faster with more fade. The Rift H9 is slower with less fade — the option for arms that can't reach the Nuke SS's speed 13.
