Overstable Kastaplast fairway driver in K1 Grind plastic. It handles wind and power, ideal for forehands and controlled shots.

The Malm is Kastaplast’s overstable fairway driver — and its name carries plenty of history. “Malm” refers both to the four historic districts around central Stockholm (Norrmalm, Södermalm, Östermalm and Västermalm) and to the Swedish word for “iron ore”, linking it to the mines of northern Sweden and Kastaplast’s tradition of metal-themed names. With speed 10, glide 4, turn 0 and fade 2.5, it handles torque and headwinds with authority and finishes predictably.

According to the manufacturer, it’s a “powerful fairway driver that handles headwinds and hard throws”. Just as comfortable on backhand as on forehand. In K1 Grind the Malm can fly a little more stable than in standard K1 — the recycling process tends to produce a slightly firmer plastic that keeps the mold’s overstability for longer. And every disc has a unique colour pattern thanks to the way the recycled plastic is blended.

K1 Grind

The sustainable version of Kastaplast's premium K1 plastic. Made from 100% recycled K1 plastic — Kastaplast collects the leftover material from its own K1 disc production, grinds it and turns it into new plastic without mixing it with other materials or using second-hand discs. The result has the same quality, durability and grip as standard K1, but with a significantly lower environmental impact. Some players notice that K1 Grind flies a bit more stable than standard K1.

Kastaplast K1 Malm— the same mold in standard K1. K1 Grind can fly a little more stable, and every disc has a unique colour thanks to the recycling process. Choosing between the two comes down to looks and your commitment to sustainability.

Discmania Neo Splice X-out— another very overstable fairway driver (9/3/0/4). The Splice has more fade and is more extreme. The Malm K1 Grind is faster and goes further before the fade — more versatile for overstable distance drives.

Latitude 64 Project Grip Saint— another speed-9 fairway driver, but very different (9/7/-1/2). The Saint is workable with maximum glide. The Malm K1 Grind is more overstable and reliable in the wind — for situations where the Saint wouldn’t hold up.
