Overstable Kastaplast fairway driver in K1 plastic. For controlled shots in the wind and powerful forehands.

The Malm is Kastaplast’s overstable fairway driver — a disc with plenty of character behind its name. “Malm” refers both to the four historic districts around central Stockholm (Norrmalm, Södermalm, Östermalm and Västermalm) and to the Swedish word for “iron ore”, linking it to the iron mines of northern Sweden and Kastaplast’s tradition of metal-themed names. With speed 10, glide 4, turn 0 and fade 2.5, it sits between the Stål and the Guld in the brand’s range.

According to the manufacturer, it’s a “powerful fairway driver that handles headwinds and hard throws, becoming an indispensable companion when you need to conquer long, curving fairways”. Just as comfortable on backhand as on forehand thanks to its gently domed profile, which feels comfortable in the hand and makes for a clean release. It resists torque without turning over — the disc you reach for when the Idog runs out of stability.

Innova Teebird Champion
— the classic benchmark overstable fairway driver (7/5/0/2). The Teebird is slower with slightly less fade. The Malm is faster with more bite — for players with more power who want more distance with the same reliability.

Discmania FD3 C-Line— another overstable fairway driver (9/4/0/3). The FD3 has more fade and is a bit more extreme. The Malm has more speed and a slightly softer fade — more versatile on long drives where the FD3 can come up short.

Kastaplast Idog K1— the Malm’s more neutral sibling in the Kastaplast range (7/5/-0.5/2). The Idog is slower and more workable. The Malm is faster, more overstable and more torque-resistant — the natural next step when the Idog can’t handle your power.
