Understable Discraft driver in ESP plastic, ideal for gaining distance without a powerful arm. Highly recommended for newer players and for turnover shots.

The Heat is one of the best-loved drivers in the Discraft range — and for good reason. It debuted as the official disc of Discraft's 2014 Ace Race and has kept growing in popularity ever since. With speed 9, glide 6, turn -3 and fade 1, it's an accessible distance machine: it turns right for right-handed players during the flight and lands softly and under control. Its rim is narrower than other drivers of the same speed, making it very comfortable in the hand.

According to the manufacturer, it's “a distance milestone for new and developing players” — and the community agrees. For beginners it flies straight with exceptional glide without needing power. For intermediate players it's the perfect tool for hyzer flips, long curves and tailwind shots. For advanced players with a big arm, the turn -3 kicks in fully for aggressive turnovers and distance rollers. One thing though — like any understable disc, avoid using it in a strong headwind.

Discraft premium plastic launched in 2006, created to combine exceptional grip with great durability. Opaque in appearance with its trademark colour swirls, it's grippier than Z from the very first throw and gradually beats in towards a slightly more understable flight with use. Slightly less durable than standard Z, but the difference is minimal under normal conditions.

Discraft Hades ESP (McBeth)— the Hades (12/6/-3/2) has the same turn and glide but is faster and more overstable at the end. The Heat is more accessible for less powerful arms and flies straighter at lower speeds.

Kastaplast Älva K1— a very similar understable, accessible concept. The Älva is a little faster (speed 11); the Heat has a narrower rim and is easier to grip for small hands or new players.

Innova Leopard3— both understable and highly recommended for beginners. The Heat has more turn (-3 vs -2) and more glide — a bit more aggressive early on but with more potential distance.
