Latitude 64 fairway driver, 2018 Disc of the Year, in Project Grip plastic. A straight, honest disc that goes where you throw it.

The Explorer is one of the most respected fairway drivers in the Latitude 64 range — voted 2018 Disc of the Year by the disc golf community. With speed 7, glide 5, turn 0 and fade 2, it's famous for its “honest” flight: it goes exactly where you throw it, holds a straight line for most of its path and finishes with a gentle, predictable fade. Developed with World Champion Ricky Wysocki, it was designed to be the go-to control driver for every kind of fairway drive.

The Project Grip version is especially interesting for players who prioritise control in tough conditions. The dual-plastic technology makes the disc feel completely different in the hand — more secure and more comfortable to release cleanly, even with wet or cold hands. The flight is the same as the Explorer in Opto or Opto-X, but your confidence on the throw isn't.

Project Grip

Latitude 64's exclusive technology that combines two premium plastics in a single disc. The outer layer uses an especially grippy compound for exceptional grip in the hand, while the inner core keeps the stiffness and structural integrity of standard Opto plastic. The result is a disc that feels more secure when you throw it without sacrificing durability or flight consistency — especially useful in the cold, in the rain or when playing lots of holes in a row.

Latitude 64 Explorer Opto-X
— same mold and identical flight numbers. Opto-X is more overstable and harder; Project Grip prioritises grip and comfort in the hand without changing the flight.

Innova Teebird— almost identical flight numbers (7/5/0/2) and the long-standing benchmark in this segment. The Explorer Project Grip stands out for its superior grip in tough conditions compared with Champion or Star.

Discmania FD (Jackal)— the FD has turn -1, a bit more understable. The Explorer is more neutral and reliable into a headwind, with a turn 0 that doesn't give in to power.
